Futuria Aero

We're leaving Y2K for good, finally! and here's why

As we go towards the end of 2023s, we've been seeing the return of noughties aesthetics rooted in nostalgia. The early 2000s and 2010s have taken stage and some notable examples are - the gen x soft club aesthetic and romcom core. We've definitely been seeing the Frutiger Aero aesthetic making comebacks.

and I know you're thinking, what are all these silly words?

Frutiger Aero is an aesthetic and corporate design philosophy from 2004 to 2013. It consisted of lots of glossy textures, cloudy skies, aero glass and bokeh. Think windows vista start up screen, windows media player and Apple's iPod Silhouette campaign. It is named after Adrian Frutiger and eventually went on to overtake Y2K due to the political and cultural shift during the early-2000s.

Examples of this include the Dot-com bubble, burst, the September 11th attacks and the war on terror. The aesthetic communicated hopeful optimism and eco-futurism as there was an increased awareness in environmental activism.
